And as part of that process for when you purchase an object from our catalog, we ship it to you (as is) direct from our available inventory, or if not in our inventory at the time, we are happy to produce a brand new one for you (of course, this takes a bit longer). And where possible, we can also work to customize it for you, based on your needs for a particular size, color or finish. And in the chance case, you are a bit unsure on where to place our objects in your desired habitats, we are happy to provide our distinctive design services to you.

FOund

What is the provenance of FOUND items?

In our long-storied career as purveyors of décor objects, we learned that many objects from the past look better with age. Our sourcing teams are as creative as they are adept. They leave no stone unturned to discover that diamond in the ruff if you will. They find objects that may have been built to serve one purpose but today can, in a new context be seen in a new light. The objects we select undergo a stringent process of quality control. If you wish to learn more, please contact us at in@contextofthings.com.

What are your practices in sustainability?

At COT we believe in creating objects that have a very light footprint. Wood is reclaimed, wherever possible. When it comes to metal, our artisans are experts in repurposing iron rods and molding them in to the dreamy shapes created by our designers. Our leather is harvested as a by-product of the meat industry, while our textiles are dyed with organic and environmentally safe colors.

How can I be assured of your labour practices?

We mandate our supplier networks to uphold the principles of SA8000*. We expect everyone who makes our products to be treated with respect & dignity. We continually monitor, and, if needed, effect change to deploy modern standards for our workers health and safety.

*The SA8000 Standard is an internationally recognized standard for the workplace, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, ILO conventions, and national laws. SA8000 applies a management-system approach to social performance and emphasizes continual improvement, not checklist-style auditing.
